Yeah i was looking at defcon, it looked pretty good. But i am just seeing what everyone else thinks, why are Arma 2 servers so expensive?is a recent thread discussing a few different server companies.

Havent done it for a few months but tried again today to find none of my friends could find the server and when they hosted one no one could find anyones. Arma 3 Server
(in the multiplayer forum no less;))Out of the 3 companies I have rented from, League Servers has the cheapest price if you don't need your 'own' box (ie 20-40 slots on a shared server) and their customer service is. Well, really not that bad. Their private servers suck, but have had no problems with their public servers.But I really would recommend for anything bigger than that (his prices for bigger boxes are as cheap as anyone else), and for just outstanding customer service.
How To Host Arma 3 Server For A Small Group
Step 1: Open steam and select the library dropdown link called 'tools'.Step 2: Scroll down until you find 'Arma 2: Operation Arrowhead-Dedicated Server'Step 3: Install 'Arma 2: Operation Arrowhead-Dedicated Server' and open itStep 4: When it is opened a window should appear saying '20:31:57 Dedicated host created.20:31:58 BattlEye Server: Initialized (v1.185)20:31:58 Host identity created.' Or something like that.Step 5: Launch Arma 2 Operation Arrowhead and click on 'multiplayer'Step 6: Click on host new session or new. (host new session will be in the server browser or as an alternative new will be below the server browser where filter is etc.Step 7: When the session options load select your options. You can change your host name to whatever you want, you can change the password and the number of players allowed aswell. Hello neighbor alpha 4 house. However leave your port the same and do not edit it.Step 8: Once you have clicked OK you can select the mission and click OK on that tab aswell this will take you to the lobby.Step 9: In the lobby you can invite friends and set the paremeters for your mission (disable A.I, set day night cycle etc.)Step 10: Click continue/play and your mission will load.Step 11: Have fun playing Arma 2: Operation Arrowhead with your friends.P.S: this works on Arma aswell you just need to install the Arma 2 Dedicated server instead.
